Update for My New Book

Thank you to all who have checked out my new book and what it offers. I urge you to check out my new book trailer on the Home Page. It looks like it’s nicely done. I think most people will find it agreeably made.

I have had some issues with this latest book that may interest some people. First, the official release date was supposed to be July 16. However, bookstores like Amazon, Barnes and Noble, and Bookshop.org did not show the cover of the paperback version. Amazon, for example. did show the book cover for the eBook version when it was released on May 28 but not the paperback version. In spite of the July 16 release date, Amazon did not show the cover for the paperback version either. Nor did Barnes and Noble or Bookshop.org. I did not understand why they didn’t.

I called up BookBaby, the Publisher, to ask them to check into this quandary. They reissued the release to the different companies to correct that concern. It took several or more days for them to post the book cover. Amazon posted the new cover for the paperback version fairly quickly, but it took longer for Barnes and Noble and Bookshop.org to post it.

Second, I noticed that the release info showed my name as “Gary Lindberg” instead of “Gary R. Lindberg” as it shows on the book cover. I have tried to be consistent with my name on all my books. I suspected they got confused because there are two Gary Lindbergs, for example, on Amazon. That’s right–there are two authors by the name of Gary R. Lindberg! And here I thought I was unique! Not!

It is amazing that on Amazon when you look up “Gary Lindberg,” you will see many books whose author is Gary Lindberg. They are not all written by me. It’s funny. It’s ironic that both of us were born in the same year, in the same city of Minneapolis, and, in fact, in the same hospital (which was torn down many years ago). What is different is our middle names. We have different middle names, but both begin with the letter “R.” The other Gary has been writing books much longer than I have and is much more successful as an author. When I started to publish my first book, I had noticed this other Gary Lindberg. I noted his wrote his thrillers and used his name as simply “Gary Lindberg.” So I decided to distinguish myself by using my middle initial.

However, more recently, the other Gary wrote and published several non-fiction books about Elvis Presley and decided to use his middle initial. So, it occurred to me that the book shops, whether inadvertently or not, relaxed their use of my middle initial for my latest book. When I just checked the bookstores, I found they updated their book cover pictures for the paperback version, but not the eBook version, with the middle initial. So, I’m still waiting for the update process to finish.

In the meantime, you may like to look at the new book trailer on the Home Page of this website.
